Intro - BC bound

Canada bound!  With Kate approaching the end of her training I suggested we do something to celebrate.....maybe a new mountain bike or a trip overseas?  Kate's response- how about both!  So, as you can see from the photo above, we have caught the travel bug (Kate made me write that) and with our two little squirrels, 3 bikes, one bike trailer, 2 car seats and 2 bags we are ready to go....in search of the Purple Skunk!

The name of our blog comes from a tale I have been weaving for Frida about Juliet and her being recruited to find the infamous Purple Canadian Skunk that has gone missing.  This story has passed many hours on walking tracks, in the car and bedtime stories.  So now we are setting off to do the real thing.  Frida has been honing her search skills in the Bay of Plenty and now she is ready to take on BC!

So for those of you who followed our cycle touring blog, we hope you enjoy following this wee journey.  It will involve more photos and less words, more bear encounters rather than beer encounters and more RV kms than cycle kms.
So with our hefty load we are set to go! A few hiccups at Chch airport when we realised we needed a visa for Canada and had to hurriedly do it online - luckily it was approved by the time we got to Auckland! And walking from Domestic to International with this load and 2 kids wasn't that fun in Auckland either.

Oh well we made it.
 Bon voyage!
